On June 4, 2009, at the invitation of Prof. Guorong Li and Prof. Qingrui Yin, Prof. Peter I. Lelkes, from the Drexel University of USA, visited SICCAS and gave a brilliant academic lecture titled “Novel Bio/NanoTechnologies for Engineering Small Diameter Vascular Grafts”.

Peter I. Lelkes is the Calhoun Chair Professor of Cellular Tissue Engineering at Drexel University’s School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems (BIOMED). He is a distinguished scholar in the fields of tissue engineering, smart biomaterials development, bioreactor biotechnology, and regenerative medicine. In this lecture, Prof. Peter I. Lelkes showed the latest advancement from his group in the fields such as electrospin and vascular graft. The lecture was impressive and it showed the frontier studies in the field.

Researchers and students from the Information Materials and Devices Research Center and Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Research Center attended the lecture. They exchanged ideas with Prof. Peter I. Lelkes on the interested topics. After the lecture, Prof. Guorong Li and Prof. Peter I. Lelkes discussed the details to strengthen the bilateral cooperation.
