Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi, 2010 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, was awarded Honorary Professorship by Shanghai Institute of Ceramics during his visit to the Institute on March 30.
During his visit to the Institute, Dr.Ei-ichi Negishi visited the SIC-SONY Laboratory and showroom together with Dr. SHI Erwei, Vice President of CAS, Mr. QIU Huasheng, Deputy Director-General of Bureau of International Cooperation and Dr. LUO Hongjie, Director of the Institute.
Moreover, Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi gave a lecture entitled “My past, present and future of organic synthesis”. It aroused such a great interest that more than 200 researchers and students attended the lecture and posed questions with great enthusiasm.
Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi (born July 14, 1935) is a Japanese chemist who has spent most of his career at Purdue University, United States. He is best known for his discovery of the Negishi coupling. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for palladium catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis" jointly with Richard F. Heck and Akira Suzuki. |
