Invited by Prof. YANG Jianhua, Prof. Günther DISSERTORI and Dr. Francesca NESSI from CERN visited SICCAS on May 16-17, 2012.

During their visit, Prof. DISSERTORI et al. visited the LYSO group at Jiading R&D center of SICCAS on May 16 and discussed the collaboration on scintillation materials, namely LYSO and YSO, with Prof. YANG Jianhua and Dr. WU Cheng. On May 17, a seminar was held with the research group headed by Prof. PAN Yubai. Prof. Günther DISSERTORI presented a talk entitled "Highlights from the LHC results, the High-Luminosity Upgrade program for LHC and the requirements on scintillator materials", which gave a general introduction of the latest results of LHC and the demand for scintillator materials of next generation. Dr. NESSI focused on the performance comparison of different scintillator materials available and the possibilities for next generation application. Dr. WU Cheng introduced the important progress on LYSO and YSO. Dr. JIANG Benxue, Dr. KOU Huamin and Dr. SHEN Yiqiang presented the recent progress on laser ceramics and scintillation ceramics in SICCAS and their potential applications in HL-LHC respectively. Both sides agreed to strengthen the bilateral collaboration in the near future.

Prof. Günther DISSERTORI is the Head of the Institute for Particle Physics (IPP). His main activities are related to the electromagnetic crystal calorimeter ECAL (detector control system) and to the Physics analyses. His research interests focus on searches for new particles as well as Higgs boson.
