2016 symposium based on bilateral cooperation between Shanghai Institute of Ceramics and Joining/Welding Research Institute of Osaka University

The 2016 symposium based on bilateral cooperation between Shanghai Institute of Ceramics and the Joining/Welding Research Institute of Osaka University was held in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Changning campus in February 24th, 2016.

Professor Dongliang Jiang, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered an opening remark. He gave a warm welcome for the visiting of Prof. Makio Naito and his team member Dr. Takahiro Kozawa, then reviewed the history of the cooperation, and also expressed his congratulation for a successful meeting. During the symposium, Prof. Makio Naito gave an invited lecture entitled "Smart Powder Processing for Advanced Materials and Sustainable Development", Dr. Takahiro Kozawa reported his recent advance on battery materials with the title as "Particle Design and Synthesis of Cathode Materials for Li-Ion Batteries via Mechanical Method". Prof.Qian Liu, Prof. Jingxian Zhang, Prof. Jiacheng Wang and graduate student Mr. Mingxian Yu gave four lectures in different areas, the titles are “Fast Screening of Some Inorganic Materials by Combinatorial Method”, “Tape casting of Si3N4 sheets for potential use as circuit substrate of power device”, “Ultrathin Carbon Layers-Encapsulated Carbide Nanoparticles as Efficient Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution”, and “TiO2/SiO2-doped Al2O3 ceramics with anisotropic grains produced by tape casting and pressureless sintering” respectively. More than twenty researchers and students attended the symposium and had hot discussions.

In the afternoon of February 24th 2016, Professor Makio Naito, Dr. Takahiro Kozawa, Prof. Qian Liu, Prof. Jingxian Zhang, and Prof. Jiacheng Wang had discussions about the present achievement and the next research plan of the cooperation. Afterwards, Professor Makio Naito, Dr. Takahiro Kozawa visited the Labs of The State Key Lab of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructure.

Prof. Makio Naito is the guest Profess of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics. He visited our Institute in 2014 under the invitation of Prof. Dongliang Jiang. From April 2015 on, a formal cooperation program on energy based materials was started between Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University and Shanghai Institute of Ceramics. As the first annual meeting, this symposium not only helped both sides to have deep understanding on the present status of the cooperation, and also came to a common knowledge for the next step work. In order to promote cooperation further, both sides have agreed to exchange young scientist based on “Sakura program” etc., and to apply for international cooperation project from the governmental support, and to find applications for the research work in the future.
