Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Drexel University signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Collaboration Agreement to jointly establish the Drexel-SARI Center on October 19, 2011 .
Dr. JIANG Mianheng, Vice President of CAS and President of CAS Shanghai Branch and John A. Fry, President of Drexel University, jointly unveiled the plate of the center. Dr. ZHU Zhiyuan, Executive Vice President of CAS Shanghai Branch, Dr. FENG Songlin, President of SARI, and Dr. JIANG Biao, Vice President of SARI and relevant researchers joined the signing ceremony.
Dr. JIANG Mianheng delivered a speech and remarked that the collaboration between SARI and Drexel has a clear objective and road map featured with lots of practical substances to be accomplished, and that the Drexel-SARI partnership forges the conditions that will result in solutions to today's global challenges. Based on cooperation, innovation and hard work, SARI and Drexel will contribute importantly to society.
John A. Fry mentioned in his speech that Drexel is proud to launch this collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and by working together the two institutions can expand opportunities for groundbreaking research, outstanding education and the translation of new technologies to commercial applications.
After the signing ceremony, the Drexel delegation visited the innovative pharmaceuticals facility of CAS Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park accompanied by Dr. ZHU Zhiyuan, followed by further discussion regarding the development plan of the joint center.
