‘Tour of China 2014’ in Shanghai
As an event of European Union across China to introduce the European Research and Innovation programs (Tour of China 2014), a seminar focusing on science and technology collaboration was held in Shanghai on May 22. 60 participants included the delegation of EU mission and diplomats from EU countries, researchers and management staffs from institutes of CAS Shanghai Branch and universities in shanghai.

Mr. Philip, a science counsellor from delegation of EU mission gave the presentation about ‘Horizon 2020 ’ which is the biggest EU research and innovation program. Science counsellors from Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, Hungary, Netherlands, Austria, Finland and other EU member states introduced the policy of scientific cooperation between China.


EU countries and China have established collaborative ties in social economic areas as well as in science and technology. Shanghai, as one of the most active city in China, has contributed a lot and will continuously contribute to the cooperation. Within Shanghai Branch Chinese Academy of Sciences, cooperation has gone much more extensive, and has innovated into different models. Partner institute, international assessment, research group ,the Exploratory Round Table Conference(ERTC) and cooperation on large science construction in Shanghai such as Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Just like what was said by Zhang Xu, vice president of CAS Shanghai Branch,” the cooperation has not only brought forth sparkles of new ideas but also gone into decision-making .”

After seminar, science counsellors from EU mission visited Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute and Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica.
